Hello Ames families and welcome to the 2016-2017 school year!
As a local PTA unit, one of our purposes is “to bring into closer relation the home and the school, that parents and teachers may cooperate intelligently in the education of children and youth.” We sincerely hope you share this belief and will make it a priority to become a member of our Ames PTA!
Throughout the school year, Ames PTA hosts many family-oriented events at the school. We hope you are able to attend these events and even lend a helping hand if needed. A small sample of our events include:
• Family Reading Night
• Family Movie Night
• Family Heritage Night
• Family Dance
Ames PTA also sponsors programs meant to enrich the learning experiences for our children. We are pleased to host the following programs (and many more that are not listed):
• All-school assemblies
• Science Fair
• Pizza with the Principal
• Teacher/Staff Appreciation Week
• Artist in Residence
• Grade level field trips
• Talent Show
To continue offering this level of programming, we need to reach our fundraising goal of $20,000! Some of the fundraisers we will use this year are:
• Direct donations
• Amazon Smile
• Scholastic Book Fair
• Charleston Gift Wrap
• Landscaping bricks
• 5Bs Catering
• Election Day Bake Sale
We will need a lot of volunteers to ensure the success of these programs. Remember the African proverb, “Many hands make light work.” We hope everyone will choose one thing that interests them and get involved! Whether you are a working parent or a stay-at-home parent, there will be opportunities for you.
PTA communication is separate from Ames School, so we encourage you to stay informed of the latest news and events through our communication channels:

• Attend PTA meetings. Our first meeting will be this Friday, Aug 26 at 8:20 am.
