Note Cards on the way……..

The Note Cards are in the mail to school as I am writing this. I talked to the company on Thursday morning and they were still working on our order. I received a call Thursday afternoon stating that they did get them in the mail. There were a number of circumstances this year that slowed the process down a bit. The economy being the way it is, some of their suppliers did not have as many staff and their paper supply source ran out of paper. I know that some of you use these as Holiday gifts, including myself, and I apologize. This is a great company and they have served us well for many years.

Again I apologize for the inconvenience. Happy Holidays and have a Healthy and Happy New Year.

Used Treadmill Needed

The school is looking for a family who has a treadmill they don’t use that could be used
it with some students for sensory breaks. If you have one or knwo of someone, please contact Mrs. Lieggi at the school office.

Riverside School Teachers Begin Bullying Training

Through a grant made available from the Illinois Violence Prevention Authority (IVPA), the Riverside Police Department along with staff from the Illinois Center for Violence Prevention (ICVP) recently completed the first of three training sessions for Riverside District #96 teachers and administrators. Through services from ICVP, the training is aimed at bullying prevention in the schools as well as raising issues such as cyber-bullying.

During the training session, teachers and administrators were asked to gauge bullying in their schools. This was done by ICVP to get a sense of what is occurring in Riverside schools so that they can gear the training specifically for Riverside . The remaining sessions will concentrate on giving teachers and administrators the tools to understand bullying and how to monitor kids.

Police Chief Tom Weitzel said, “As a police department, we are dedicated to working with Riverside schools and ICVP to make certain our schools remain among the safest.”

Mrs. Melton (5th grade teacher) had her baby! As expected, it was a girl. No information on the time so weʼre not sure if it was yesterday (her due date) or today. Her name is Anya Kathleen Melton and she weighed 7lbs. 15oz.

SNOW PANTS,BOOTS,HATS, SCARVES AND GLOVES

Please remember to dress your children in snow pants and boots if they want to play in the snow, as they love to play at recess!! We see the children engaging in creative and imaginative play as they build snow forts and dig snow holes to hide in. Your child is sure to be disappointed if they forget to bring their snow pants and boots!

In addition: If your child has outgrown his or her snow gear and you would like to donate it to the school we will be happy to distribute it to the students who do not have snow clothes.
