Art Guides

ART GUIDE VOLUNTEERS NEEDED:

The goal of the Art Guide Program at Ames School is to nurture our students’ creativity and appreciation for the arts by having volunteer parents present artists and their art and to reinforce key ideas through hands-on activities.

Each grade has four artists that are to be presented each school year. Ideally, one artist should be presented in each of the following four months: October, November, January and February. Since we are nearing the end of October, perhaps this artist presentation can be done in the spring. Please coordinate with the teachers for your child’s grade to determine the best date and time for all of you.

The program is straightforward. The research is done for you already. Binders with materials for most artists are provided for you and are located in the storage room under the bleachers in the gym. I have also attached some information about the Art Guide Program which you may find helpful.

This is a unique way to be involved in the classroom and one the children enjoy and appreciate.

For those interested in volunteering as an Art Guide for the 2009-2010 school year, please contact Lisa Muldowney at 708-447-3264 or by e-mail lfm384@yahoo.com
