Did you know there’s an easy way to help us raise money for our school—for books, assemblies, character programs, field trips and anything else that can use extra funding? It’s called Take Charge of Education, and it’s helping our school right now.
Here’s how it works: Visit Target.com/tcoe or call 1-800-316-6142 to designate our school, then use your REDcard whenever you shop. When you use your REDcard™ (Target¨ Visa¨ Credit Card, or Target Check Card¨), Target will donate up to 1% of your purchases to the eligible K–12 school of your choice*.
Don’t have a REDcard? It’s easy to apply. Get started in person at any Target store or go to Target.com/redcard.
Grandparents, alumni, friends and neighbors are all welcome to participate in the program. The more people we involve, the harder the program works for our school. If you’re already participating, thank you!

Your Ames PTA Directory, Membership, and Volunteer forms are due this Wednesday, September 1. You can download these forms by going to the “Ames PTA Sign-up Forms” link at the top of www.amespta.org. If you want to be listed in the Ames School Directory, you will need to turn in the Directory form by Wednesday. The PTA membership fee of $7.50 includes the 2010/2011 District Calendar and the Ames Directory. The Calendars are here and are being distributed now to PTA members, and the Directories will be here later this month.

Important Information for the Upcoming School Year
Illinois is offering a special sales tax deduction for school supplies purchased between August 6th and August 15th, 2010.

Also, don’t forget to send your child to school with a pair of gym shoes and an art smock.
Gym Shoes: One pair with good arch support and can be securely worn (full heel)
Art Smock: One of Mom’s or Dad’s old t-shirts or button down shirts
