Ames PTA Teacher/Staff Appreciation Week – Baskets Due April 26th

Posted Apr 14, 2019 | Category: Staff Appreciation

Dear Ames Families,

The Ames PTA is preparing to celebrate Teacher/Staff Appreciation the Week of May 6. The theme is “Super Teachers!”  The week will feature special events and treats for the teachers and staff that work so hard for our children all year long.

There are several opportunities for parents to get involved:

  • Teachers Luncheon – Parents are welcome to attend the Teacher Appreciation Luncheon on Thursday, May 9, at Ascension Lutheran Church from 11:00am-1:00pm. Lunch is provided for all the teachers and we ask parents to RSVP and pay $20 per person here by Thursday, April 18th.

  • Donations – We cannot put on such a fabulous week of treats, gifts and activities for the staff without your help. If you would like to make a monetary donation toward the week’s activities, which includes teacher gift cards, the luncheon and other events, click here or send cash/check to the school office with “ATTN: PTA/Susan Wolfe” by Thursday, April 18th. (Please make checks payable to Ames PTA.)

  • Gift Baskets – We are looking for volunteers to donate completed themed gift baskets to raffle off to the staff during the luncheon. Donate as a family or team up with others to create a fun basket. Please note, alcohol is not allowed. If you plan to donate a basket or have any questions please contact Susan Wolfe. Baskets are due by Friday, April 26th.

Posted Apr 14, 2019 | Category: Uncategorized

Monday April 22nd begins Earth Week. Help show a little love to our planet by supporting the following activities:

At School: Collections to Donate

Let’s keep these items out of the landfill and put them to good use again. All week (4/22-4/26) we will be collecting at Ames:

1. Shoes: Bring in children or adult shoes in good condition, which we will be donating to Sister House (www.sisterhousechicago.org). We are looking for “gently worn, new or used shoes” only.

2. Glasses: Bring in your old glasses and sunglasses and we will donate to the Lyons Club for reuse (www.new-eyes.org/join-the-vision)

At Home: Earth Week Points

Score points for the Planet. Check out the Earth Friendly Acts on this printable table Earth Week 2019. Mark an “X” each day you complete one of the acts and get a point with for each “X”. The class with the most points per student earns pizza or special snack! Please return by Friday, April 26.
